ODC Stake & Lath has recently engaged in a new project with a longtime customer. Since late October, our Buhl facility has been producing crate kits for L&M Radiator of Hibbing. Designing and manufacturing radiators and heat exchangers that are used in heavy industry applications worldwide, L&M Radiator is family-run and has been in business since 1957. For nearly 20 years, ODC has been providing them with custom packaging and pallet services.
This new crate project came around after the retirement of a key employee who handled their crating in-house. L&M Radiator approached us knowing our experience in processing lumber and pallets. After creating a few prototypes, they were satisfied with our quality, the capacity of our automated equipment and fast turnaround. Outsourcing their crating process allows them to free up personnel and floor space to aid in efficient supply chain and inventory management.
Accommodating their needs took very few adjustments due to our automated production lines, experience and available space. We assemble the bases of the crates and prepare the rest of the materials as a kit to be completed at the time a product is shipped (another space-saving measure). Since the project began, we have produced over 50 crates that range in size from a large dog house to a garden shed, with many being used in overseas shipping.
One of our strengths in customer service is being able to accommodate and demonstrate custom solutions for various industries. Our facility can design and produce any type of skid, shipping component or crate for various applications, which have ranged from mining and manufacturing to automotive and landscaping. Not to mention our custom wood cutting services, which include a CNC panel saw and lumber resaw. Consider us your one-stop “chop” for standout wood product solutions!
